What's New

The past couple weeks at our house have been eventful to say the least.

Mid February we went up to Michigan to visit my sister Sarah and her husband Steven and the girls' favorite (and only) cousin Jacqui!  We had a great time with them and Lauren especially loved the abundance of dress ups!

The next week Ryan received a job offer in Sacramento, California!  Of all the jobs Ryan applied to this was the one he really wanted.  So we accepted the offer and will be headed out there the end of  June.  We're all really excited and look forward to starting the post school chapter of our lives.

Other big news  from the girls:

  •  Lauren has entered into her "princess phase."  For Christmas we gave her a book of fairy tales and Cinderella quickly became her favorite.  We have read and seen movies of several different versions and this has lead to and introduction to even more princesses.  Her favorite princess though is still Cinderella.  She will often say out of nowhere " Mom, I'm Cinderella."  She loves to play Cinderella. She turns her bed into the carriage and all her stuffed animals into horses, coachmen, and footmen and dances at the ball with the prince (Piggy).  Mine and Rachel's roles change frequently as needed.
  • Funny quotes from Lauren:
    • "You know Mommy Easter is coming up and I want to be Little Red Riding Hood for Halloween!"
    • "This is my favorite movie that I've ever seen!" - in reference to Charlotte's Web, we watch it at least once a week.  Lauren likes me to fix her hair like Fern, a pony tail with a bow on it.
    • "Rachel is not a Rachel, she is a monkey."  - said one night when both were particularly wound up.
    • "Sweet!" - when our friend brought treats over.
    • "Okay Mommy, this is your deal..." - trying to explain a complicated game we were about to play.
  • Rachel is starting to walk little by little.  She likes to take two or three steps at a time when she thinks you aren't paying attention and then when you look or encourage her she plops back down on the ground.  I'll try and get a video when she's not looking.
  • Rachel is getting sillier all the time.  Truer words were never spoken: "Rachel is not a Rachel, she is a monkey."
